EBERLE WILLING TO LET IN THE DRAFT

Greg Harder writes in The Leader-Post, “Top prospect Jordan Eberle is headed to the NHL entry draft in Ottawa -- but he's leaving his baggage behind. The Regina Pats' sniper departed Wednesday morning for the nation's capital, where he and his family plan to relax and enjoy a short holiday before the draft. With the opening round to be conducted Friday, followed by Rounds 2 through 7 on Saturday, Eberle has been warned about the perils of the format. He knows all the horror stories about highly rated prospects who regretted making the trip after they were forced to linger through the opening round and into Day 2. Frankly, he's not concerned.”

EBERLE A MAN ON THE MOVE

Greg Harder writes in the Regina Leader-Post, "Offseason? What offseason? These are busy times for Jordan Eberle, who has barely had time to take a breath since the Regina Pats were eliminated from the WHL playoffs March 29. The 17-year-old right winger left almost immediately after the season to join the Canadian under-18 team, which went on to win a gold medal at the world championship in Kazan, RussiaJust a week after returning to Canadian soil, Eberle attended the WHL's annual awards luncheon in Calgary, where he was named the league's top scholastic player. Now he's busy training for the NHL draft combine, which is slated for May 26 to June 1 in Toronto."

TRADES BENEFIT EBERLE

Greg Harder writes in the Regina Leader-Post, "Jordan Eberle understands the value of a good bullpen. The ace sniper received some much-needed relief prior to the Jan. 10 trade deadline when the Regina Pats acquired veteran forwards Scott Doucet, J.D. Watt and Ryan DePape. Those additions helped provide necessary depth behind the overworked No. 1 line of Eberle, Tim Kraus and Michael MacAngus. Eberle is reaping the benefits. The 17-year-old winger has regained his scoring touch since the deadline, potting five goals and nine points in six games -- all wins. In nine previous contests, he had just one goal and four points, plus two shootout winners."

EBERLE PLAYING A BIG ROLE WITH HOMETOWN PATS

Jason Hills writes in the Calgary Sun, "Jordan Eberle was a Regina Pats season-ticket holder as a kid and he learned what it meant to play for the Pats as the hometown kid. In their 90-year-history, the Pats have a long list of Regina-born players who have made an impact on the storied franchise. From as far back as Doug Wickenheiser and Dirk Graham, to Josh Harding and Garth Murray in recent times, now in just Eberle's second season with the Pats, he's making quite the impact of his own. At just 17-years-old, the hometown boy is leading the Pats in scoring and is widely considered to be a first-round pick in the 2008 NHL draft. He is one of the WHL's most prolific scorers, despite being just 5-ft.-9 and 174 lbs."
